We are blessed to have a pilot in our family and he flies out of Newark frequently . . . his job scares me, but then I think of all the beauty that he gets to see and I can see why he loves it! . . . The horrible time that New York is suffering through right now gives me a deep feeling for this view . . . I see a city surrounded by nature's beauty, but susceptible to its random dangers . . . something so tiny causing such great harm . . . so I see this & it makes me pray for all the people and hope for their well-being! . . . .vf

Well, perhaps the pilot in your family who flies out of Newark knows the pilot in our family who flies 767’s out of Newark, my son. My contribution to this photo was working in Photoshop to lift the image quality from iPhone to this (also that he grew up with my Nikon) –and he loves it when I post his cockpit shots here. You are absolutely right about the view from the office window of a pilot, Karen. As I always say, in company, in his presence, when I grow-up I want to be like my son! (and he is my flight instructor too! Nice job, buying him the Microsoft Flight Simulator when he was five) Although we’re from around Boston, I have a special place in my heart for the City and I absolutely felt every word you wrote about what they are going through now. Over the decades I have spent a lot of time over several stays and I will never forget the joy of emerging from the Battery Tunnel on the way to a client’s office every morning, looking at the Twins from my sunroof… a few days before 9-11. And I felt after that as I feel now about the City… and the people. And now our pilots may not have work after September 30…

Unbelievable! One of the most unique captures of the New York area from above I have seen! L/F
